Message for the Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day – May 19

May 19, 1919 marks the first step of a nation on its path to independence.
This date symbolizes not only a struggle for liberation, but also unwavering faith, determination, and the deep trust placed in youth.
The Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk dedicated this meaningful day to young people, declaring: “O rising new generation, the future is yours.”
For he knew that the future would be shaped by science, art, sports, and free thought.
As the Higher Education Planning, Evaluation, Accreditation and Coordination Council (YÖDAK), we consider it one of our fundamental duties to support the education of our youth in accordance with the requirements of the modern age, based on quality and scientific principles. Because we believe that every young person who thinks, questions, creates, and is equipped with ethical values will illuminate the future of our society. With these sentiments and thoughts, we commemorate with respect and gratitude Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and all the heroes of our independence struggle, and we sincerely celebrate the May 19 Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day of all our young people and our nation.
