Accreditation Training Program Held in the TRNC through YÖDAK–YÖKAK Cooperation
The Higher Education Planning, Evaluation, Accreditation and Coordination Council (YÖDAK) and the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK) jointly organized the 2025 Accreditation Training Program to strengthen quality assurance processes in the higher education institutions of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
The program, held at the Presidential Palace Blue Hall, was attended by university rectors, council members, and a large number of academics.
Opening remarks were delivered by YÖDAK President Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın and YÖKAK President Prof. Dr. Ümit Kocabıçak. Emphasizing the importance of quality assurance in higher education, YÖDAK President Prof. Dr. Hocanın stated:
“Strengthening the compliance of higher education in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus with international standards, institutionalizing quality assurance processes, and promoting a student-centered approach are our main priorities. YÖDAK has fulfilled and will continue to fulfill its responsibilities. We have received and continue to receive support through cooperation protocols with Türkiye. We will soon bring to the agenda the further development of the protocol signed in 2022. Enhancing quality and sustainability in education is essential. This training program is an important step in further developing the quality culture of our universities.”
Within the scope of the program, the following topics were addressed:

• Preparing Institutional Self-Assessment Reports and Evidence Management
• Rubrics and Their Relation to ESG
• The Role of Students in Higher Education Quality Processes
• YÖKAK International Institutional Accreditation Program
