We Commemorate Our Founding President, the Late Rauf Raif Denktaş, with Respect, Mercy, and Gratitude

We respectfully, reverently, and gratefully commemorate the Founding President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, the symbolic figure of our people’s struggle for existence, the great statesman, the late Mr. Rauf Raif Denktaş, on the 14th anniversary of his passing.
Throughout his life, Rauf Raif Denktaş led the Turkish Cypriot people’s struggle for sovereignty, freedom, and an honorable future. With his steadfast determination, strong leadership, and vision of statehood, he secured his place in history not only as a political leader but also as a devoted man of cause. His struggle continues to live on today within the institutions of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, its legal system, and its educational and higher education structures.
As the Higher Education Planning, Supervision, Accreditation and Coordination Council (YÖDAK), we regard the preservation of the fundamental values of the founding will and the establishment of a scientific, high-quality higher education system aligned with international standards as an inseparable part of the state responsibility entrusted to us by Rauf Raif Denktaş.
We once again commemorate our Founding President, the late Rauf Raif Denktaş, with mercy and respect; we wish God’s mercy upon him and extend our condolences and patience to his family and to the Turkish Cypriot people. We bow respectfully before his cherished memory.
