Prof. Dr. Ali Ünyayar Re-Elected as a Member of YÖDAK

The election process for the membership of the Higher Education Planning, Evaluation, Accreditation and Coordination Council (YÖDAK) was held following the expiration of the term of office of Prof. Dr. Ali Ünyayar. Within this framework, the meeting of the Interuniversity Academic Coordination Council (ÜAKK) took place on 28 July 2026 at the Zalihe Çavuşoğlu Meeting Hall of the TRNC Republic Assembly, with the participation of ÜAKK members.
Prior to the election, the President of YÖDAK delivered a comprehensive briefing on the election process. Following this presentation, the candidates were approved by the members of ÜAKK, after which the election committee was constituted and the voting process was conducted.
In accordance with the TRNC Higher Education (Amendment) Law No. 65/2005, three candidates competed for the YÖDAK membership. As a result of the vote, Prof. Dr. Ali Ünyayar received 33 of the 40 votes cast by the participating ÜAKK members and was re-elected as a member of YÖDAK.
Having received strong support from the members of ÜAKK, Prof. Dr. Ali Ünyayar will continue serving a second term as a member of YÖDAK and will further contribute to the quality assurance, planning, supervision, accreditation, and internationalization of the higher education system of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
YÖDAK extends its best wishes for the success of the election process and congratulates Prof. Dr. Ali Ünyayar, wishing him every success in his new term of office.
In accordance with the relevant legislation, the election result has been forwarded to the Presidency of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus for the completion of the appointment process.
