YÖDAK President and Rectors of TRNC Universities to Attend the 2026–2027 Higher Education Academic Opening Ceremony

Upon the invitation of the President of the Council of Higher Education of the Republic of Türkiye (YÖK), Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, YÖDAK President Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın and the rectors of universities in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) will travel to the Republic of Türkiye to attend the 2026–2027 Higher Education Academic Opening Ceremony, to be held with the presence of the President of the Republic of Türkiye, H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Bringing together the higher education communities of Türkiye and the TRNC, the 2026–2027 Higher Education Academic Opening Ceremony will take place on 6 October 2026, Tuesday, at 14:00, at the Presidential Complex, National Congress and Culture Center in Ankara.
The ceremony, to be held with the presence of the President of the Republic of Türkiye, H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, will bring together rectors and senior representatives of higher education institutions in Türkiye, as well as the rectors of universities in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
A Common Vision in Türkiye–TRNC Higher Education Relations
Higher education relations between Türkiye and the TRNC continue to develop across a range of areas, including quality assurance, oversight, the enhancement of academic standards, strengthening cooperation among higher education institutions, increasing student and academic mobility, and internationalization.
The representation of YÖDAK at the ceremony is also significant in demonstrating the strong and institutionalized ties between the higher education system of the TRNC and the higher education system of Türkiye, while further highlighting the shared vision and commitment to the continued development of higher education.
